Our Mission
To sponsor the development of affordable housing communities in Miami-Dade County, with enriched features, amenities, and services that benefit adults with Intellectual, Developmental, and other related disabilities.
Our Vision
To establish a best practice model for affordable housing serving adults with intellectual, developmental, and other related disabilities that is sustainable, replicable, and meets the needs of a broad spectrum of individuals.
Our Story
It began with a fear and evolved into a dream
Casa Familia was founded in 2015 by eight families who shared a fear for the uncertain future of their loved ones with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The founders experienced firsthand the lack of affordable housing and community engagement opportunities available for individuals with IDD, especially as they reach adulthood. A passion to address this void led them to their mission. Their determination to ensure a best-practice model inspired them to recruit a team of professionals with the expertise to help reach their goal. With the guidance of a professional Board of Directors and the support of local and state government, Casa Familia’s dreams are becoming a reality. Through hard work and dedication, Casa Familia has become a leading sponsor and advocate of affordable housing communities designed to meet the needs of individuals with intellectual, developmental, and other related disabilities in South Florida. An Honorary Legacy Board has been created to acknowledge the contributions of the Casa Familia founders and founding board members. See the Leadership page to view all Casa Familia board members, including the new Honorary Legacy Board.
