Kathy Feldman

Kathy Feldman has held several senior positions in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida during a career spanning 38 years. She worked for two U.S. District Judges and advanced through several high-level management and administrative responsibilities during her career, culminating in her appointment as Clerk of Court for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida in 2007, where she served for eight years until her retirement in 2015. Throughout her professional life, Kathy remained active in various federal court organizations as well as organizations that supported the cultural life of the community. She is a life-member of Miami’s Young Patronesses of the Opera, serving served on its Executive Board from 2008-2009. She is also a founding member of the St. Hugh-Steinway Concert’s Series in Coconut Grove.

Kathy and her husband Bennett are the parents of 35-year-old son Allen, who was diagnosed with a rare chromosomal anomaly at birth resulting in an intellectual and developmental disability. They have been innovators in developing educational opportunities in the community and have been active parents at the Miami Learning Experience School where Allen graduated with a special education diploma and currently attends the adult day program. Kathy was also one of the original MIami board members of Parent-to-Parent of Miami, a resource center for families of children and adults with disabilities. In 2017, Kathy joined the Board of Casa Familia, Inc. and currently serves as Second Vice-President, where she co-chairs the Programs and Policy Committees.

Although their son Allen is currently living in a private supported living home with two roommates, Kathy and her husband are committed to the creation of a structured community as a desirable and sustainable long-term living alternative for adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in Miami-Dade County.
